Saboteur March 2026 follows in the footsteps of the heavy-water saboteurs! Experience the same journey that has captivated generations since the war and visit some of the very places the heroes of Operation Gunnerside themselves passed through when they attempted to destroy the German atomic program in 1943!
The Norwegian Industrial Workers Museum is proud to once again host this year’s Saboteur March! This unique experience combines a guided tour along the Saboteur Trail (which includes parts of the original route used by the saboteurs during Operation Gunnerside) with a meal and a visit to the actual Heavy Water Cellar at Vemork—the target of the famous sabotage operation!
The march takes place at the same time of year and in the same terrain as the original mission against the German atomic program, bringing you close to the gripping and nerve-wracking stories from this dramatic period in Norwegian and world history.
Experience a unique and unforgettable journey through the world-famous Vestfjord Valley, descending from the edge of the wild Hardangervidda plateau to the iconic industrial complex at Vemork Power Plant, now the Norwegian Industrial Workers Museum, where the walls still echo with a century of industry intertwined with the drama of war!
The event will take place at night in occasionally rough terrain. It is important to dress warmly and appropriately for the hike, which has a total length of approximately 8 kilometers. The Saboteur March takes as long as it takes, but expect the experience to last several hours.
Participants will be contacted individually one week before the event with necessary details and to discuss any individual needs, such as dietary requirements.
